Week #6 Lenten Prayer

Please join us in praying this prayer once a day and then at 12 noon on Wednesday. There is power is prayer. Prayer and see God’s power work in your life!

A Prayer for Physical Healing

Glorious and Wonderful God, we thank You for salvation. Thank You for Your eternal love and unmerited grace. Thank You for sending Your Son, Jesus, to break the power of the devil and to bring us hope, health, and healing. Thank You for sending Your Holy Spirit, to comfort and empower us. We give thanks because You are near. People everywhere will tell of Your wonderful deeds. Lord, You are good and Your unfailing love endures forever. You are great and You perform wonderful deeds. You alone are God!

Awesome Lord, You brought Israel out of Egypt with signs and wonders, with a strong hand and powerful arm. Jesus Christ, Your Son, turned water into wine, cleansed lepers, healed the sick, raised the dead, and fed five thousands people with two fish and five loaves of bread. Jesus did many other signs in the presence of His disciples so that we would believe that He is the Christ, the Son of God, and have life in His name. We believe Jesus Christ is the same, yesterday, today and forever. Therefore, God, we expect You to display Your glory in the lives of those of us who are in need of healing and deliverance. We especially lift up Sis. Toni Haddox and all members of The Christ Experience who need you God our healer. With You, o God, nothing is impossible. We command diseases to be dissolved, broken relationships to be mended, and those who are held captive in our minds and souls to be set free. As we pray also for those in need of healing, we confess that Your power of healing will operate through us.

Master, please help us all to be bolder about praying for healing. Help those of us in need to trust in You with all of our hearts and not depend on our own understanding. Holy Spirit, please open the eyes of our understanding so that we will understand the confident hope given to those Christ has called. Remind us all to look to You for help, strength, and power. Holy One, cause Your awesome power to be experienced throughout The Christ Experience and the greater community.

Merciful God, forgive those of us who have doubted Your Word and Your works. Forgive those of us for acting Godly, but denying Your power to perform healing, signs and wonders in our lives and in the lives of other. Lord, please forgive us all and restore to us the joy of Your salvation. Holy Spirit, remind us all to forgive others and please help us to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help us all to not yield to temptation; but deliver us from the evil one.

Royal Lord, You are the Almighty! Only You can open the eyes of the blind and unplug the ears of the deaf. You cause the lame to leap like deer and those who cannot speak to sing for joy. You cause springs to gush forth in the wilderness and streams to water the wasteland. You cause the parched ground to become a pool and springs of water to satisfy the thirsty land. Great and awesome is Your Name. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Week #5 Lenten Prayer

Join us in praying this prayer at least once every day and together in concert wherever you are at 12 noon on Wednesday. We believe in the power of prayer and look forward to God answering this prayer in many ways. Let us pray.....

A Prayer for Emotional Healing for Those Who are Overcoming the Death of a Loved One

Redeeming Father, we thank You for the emotional healing of those whose loved one(s) have gone on to be with You. Thank You for the impact that they had on their lives. Thank You, Jesus, for leaving them with a gift - Your peace of mind and heart. We are thankful to You and we bless Your Name. Amazing God, we give thanks to You and proclaim Your greatness. The whole world shall know what You have done. We will sing praise to You. We will tell every one of Your wonderful deeds. You are our merciful God and the source of all comfort. We will sing to You as long as we live. We will praise You to our last breath!

Merciful God, we decree emotional healing for those who are overcoming the death of a love one. Although they are grieving, they will put their hope in You, God! They will praise You again - as their Savior and their God! Lord, they will trust Your Word. We declare that you are with them; they will not be discouraged, for You are their God. Your Word says that You will strengthen them and help them. You will hold them up with Your victorious right hand. Your Name, Lord, is a strong fortress; the Godly run to You and are safe. We decree that bereavement will last only for a short time and joy will replace sorrow.

Holy Spirit, when we see our brother or sister mourning the death of a loved one, help us to be compassionate, but also to encourage him or her with God's Word of hope and peace. Bring scriptures to our remembrance that will help to bring solace to our brother or sister. Remind us to care for the physical needs of those who are in mourning, with food, transportation, childcare or any other material thing that may be needed. Help us to be patient and to not be insensitive to their pain. Holy Spirit, when we are grieving as well, comfort us in all our troubles so that we can comfort others.

Gracious Lord, when others are grieving, forgive us for being impatient as time goes on after a death. Forgive us when we utter unkind words, making light of someone else's pain at the death of a love one. Forgive us for not taking care of the physical or emotional needs of others who have suffered loss. Holy Spirit, remind those who are overcoming the death of a loved one of those they need to forgive and help them to be quick to forgive. As for me, Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help those who are overcoming the death of a loved one not to yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

Almighty God, the heavens proclaim Your glory! The skies display Your craftsmanship. Day after day they continue to speak; night after night, they make You known. They speak without a sound or word; their voice is never heard, yet their message has gone throughout the earth, and their words to all the world. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Week #4 Lenten Prayer

Join us in praying this prayer at least once every day and together in concert wherever you are at 12 noon on Wednesday. We believe in the power of prayer and look forward to God answering this prayer in many ways. We realize that as our pastors are blessed, so we will be blessed. Let us pray…..

A Prayer for our Pastors and Their Families

Heavenly Father, we thank You for who You have appointed as our Pastors. Thank You for blessing our Church Family with their leadership and wisdom. Thank You for Pastor Semaj and Mrs. Carla Vanzant and their family. Thank You for Pastor Linda Truitt and her family. Lord, You are our Good Shepherd and High Priest. You are a great God and a great King above all gods. Today, we bow down and worship You. We kneel before You and acknowledge You as our maker. You are God and we are the people that You watch over and have taken under Your care.

Almighty Father, we confess that our Pastors are wealthy and their good deeds will last forever. Their peace is great and their composure is undisturbed. We declare that our Pastor's families experience the Kingdom of God here on earth; let people see their good works and glorify You, our Father in Heaven. Our Pastors obey Your commands, therefore, their families are blessed in the city and in the fields. They are blessed when they come in and when they go out. Lord, we expect that You will continue to cause their enemies who rise against them one way to be defeated and flee seven ways. Lord, it is our expectation that You will command Your blessing upon their storehouses and in all that they set their hands to do and you will bless them in the land. We confess that our Pastors and their families are the head and not the tail; they are above only and not beneath.

Faithful God, we joyfully lift up the families of our Pastors. Holy Spirit, we ask You to fill their homes with Your gentleness, peace, joy and Godly order. Help our Pastors to remain physically fit and strong. Please help them to maintain balance in their public and private lives. When they lay down to sleep at night, let their sleep be sweet and restful. We lift up their marriages and we ask You to bless them psychologically, emotionally, and spiritually. Lord, strengthen and encourage those families who feel overwhelmed by the ministry. Lord, we ask that You protect our Pastors and their families from the onslaught of the devil and the disrespect of people.

Merciful Lord, forgive us for not being steadfast in praying for our Pastors and their families. Forgive those in our Church Family who speak ill against our Pastors and rebel against their teachings. Forgive those who gossip, murmur, complain and whine. Please forgive our Pastors and their families for any acts of sinfulness including: anger, wrath, envy, jealously, or dissension. Holy Spirit, remind our Pastors and their families to forgive each other and other people, and please help them to forgive. As for me Holy Spirit, bring to my remembrance those I need to forgive.

Wonderful Father, help our Pastors and their families to not yield to temptation; but deliver them from the evil one.

O Lord, the God of our ancestor Israel, may You be praised forever and ever! Yours, O Lord, is the greatness, the power, the glory, the victory and the majesty. Everything in the heaven and on earth is Yours. This is Your Kingdom. In Jesus' Name, Amen!

Week #3 Lenten Prayer

NOTE: We are asking that you join us in prayer throughout this season. Every week we will take one prayer that we ask everyone to pray ONCE a day and specifically at 12 noon on Wednesdays. We do believe there is power in prayer and look forward to see how the Lord will bless you individually and us corporately!

Prayer for the Manifestation of Miracles and Healing

Heavenly Father, I thank you for manifesting Your mighty miracles throughout the earth. Thank you for being my strength in times of weakness. Thank you for blessing me with your presence. You are my God; I earnestly search for You. My soul thirsts for You; my body longs for You in this parched and weary land where there is no water. Lord, I have seen You in Your sanctuary and gazed upon Your power and glory. Your unfailing love is better than life itself; how I praise You! I will praise You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands to You in prayer. You are more satisfying than the richest feast and I will praise You with songs of joy.

Awesome God, according to Your own will. You ministered with signs and wonders, various miracles, and gift of the Holy Spirit. Therefore, I expect miracles and healings to manifest in the earth. Lord Jesus, as You performed so many miracles during Your ministry, I rejoice that you said that I would do greater works than You did because You were going to the Father and were sending the Holy Spirit. As a believer, I confess that I will move to the "greater things." In Jesus' Name, I command the sick to be made whole. I command the deaf to hear, the mute to speak and the lame to walk. I command relationships to be healed and finances to be made whole. I destroy the assignments of the devil against God's people, now! I decree that Your marvelous works will follow us so that people will see Your glory in our lives and confess Jesus Christ as their Lord and redeemer. I boldly confess that I am an overcomer by the blood of the Lamb and the word of my testimony

Holy Spirit, have Your perfect way in my life and during my worship, Bible study and ministry meetings so that miracles and healing can flow freely. Stir up the gift of faith within each pastor, leader, member and visitor to expect great manifestations of Your power, not only during our worship experiences, but every day of their lives. Holy Spirit, empower me so that I will be an effective witness of Jesus Christ.

Merciful Lord, forgive me for the times I have operated in fear and unbelief. Forgive me for not taking the time to say "thank you" for the miraculous works You have done in my life. Forgive me for not comprehending with all the saints the breadth, length, and depth, height, and love of Christ which passes all understanding and knowledge. Holy Spirit, remind me all of those I need to forgive and help me to be quick to forgive.

Holy Spirit, help me not to yield to temptation, but deliver me from the evil one.

Triumphant Lord, You are Holy, Holy, Holy. You are the God who is, who was, and who is to come. You are the Almighty. You are the Alpha and Omega. You are the Eternal King, the Unseen One who will never die; You alone are God. In the precious Name of Jesus, Amen!

Day #3 of ThanksLiving

“And whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him.”

–Colossians 3: 17

One of the top life lessons my mother still emphasizes is that "your life may be the only scripture someone reads." This short quip is convicting because it forces you to consider how what you do or what you say will make God look to others. Truth be told, many of us are misrepresenting God. Admittedly, this is a very daunting task, but possible!

The scripture verse is part of a section in the letter to the people of Colossae in which the Apostle Paul is listing the rules for holy living. In the last three verses Paul emphasizes that if you are to live a holy life, then your living must be saturated in gratefulness. In other words, Paul tells us that those who live for God are those who are so appreciative for what God has done and what God is doing in their life that they have far less time, space, or energy to participate in activities that are not pleasing to God.

I am sure you have noticed in your own life that when God has blessed you through someone, and you are truly grateful, you are less likely to say something mean and hurtful. When you are thankful for your body provided by God you are less likely to abuse it or let anyone else treat it any type of way. When you are thankful for the resources God has poured into your life, from a grateful heart you manage them more responsibly. When you are thankful and sincerely appreciate the fact that nothing may be going right, but you still have God and that's more than everything, then you will see in your life some amazing miracles and blessings!

One of my favorite songs is "Order My Steps" sung by the Gospel Music Workshop of America, Inc. choir whose chorus words are:

"Bridle my tongue let my words edify,

Let the words of my mouth be acceptable in Thy sight,

Take charge of my thoughts both day and night;

Order my steps in Your word,

[Lord] Please order my steps in Your word."

If you allow the words of this song to guide you, then you will truly show God that you are thankful not just in your words, but by the way you live!

Day #2 of ThanksLiving

“Oh give thanks to the Lord; call upon his name; make known his deeds among the peoples!”

–Psalm 105: 1

When you see a good movie or drama on television you go and tell someone, you post a Facebook status, write a tweep, and more. You want people to know how well you were entertained by whatever show or movie you just watched. Well, God blesses us every day and at every moment. The Psalmist encourages us to give thanks to the Lord by telling people of the amazing way God has blessed your life.

When God does something for us, it is our responsibility to let people know that we have been blessed and it is God who deserves the credit. Now it is important that we do not boast or brag about the blessings in our life, but it is important that with a humble heart we share our testimony so that God gets the glory out of our life.

We should be thankful for what God does in our life, because we do not deserve the grace we receive. So when God does something, demonstrate your gratefulness by telling somebody about your good and great God!

Day #1 of ThanksLiving

Over the next 7 days Pastor Semaj and Carla Vanzant will post devotionals to read with the intent to deepen the meaning of this holiday season. Our hope is that you read them, think about them, and pray about how you can apply their message to your life. Be grateful!

November 23, 2014

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you." (1 Thessalonians 5:18 ESV)

Can you recall a time in your life when you felt as though everything was working against you? When you thought that the pressure of life was so heavy it was going to crush you? I know I have. My cross-country move to Oklahoma has been that thing in my life. It has come with so many hardships and obstacles. Some days I wake up ready to embrace this challenge; other days I wake up yearning for the comforts of home and the familiarity of what I know. In those moments of discomfort, more often than I'd like to admit, I choose ungratefulness.

In this "foreign" place I have worn my blinders too much. Often times I forget to look around and notice all of the wonderful things God is doing in my life. You see, despite the hardships, it has been in this "foreign" place that I have watched God meet the needs of my family and the congregation that we serve in miraculous ways. It has been in this place that I have watched this amazing congregation grow and flourish when for so long people counted us out. It has been in this place that God has pushed me (rather hard I might add) into my calling. Thank you, Father!

I also encourage each of you to do inventory. What has God done in your life that you've failed to notice? For that, give God praise! For the things you don't understand, the delays, the hardships, life and strength, for everything, give thanks to your God! As you trust God to guide you along your journey, into unfamiliar territory and hardships you may not understand, do so with a heart of thanksgiving, trusting and knowing that He is working for your good.

ThanksLiving Tip: ThanksLiving is a choice! Choose to live a grateful life. In every situation you find yourself today and everyday, give God thanks and praise. No excuses. No exceptions. No exclusions. In all you do, in all you say, in the way that you carry yourself, give God thanks!

"Give thanks in all circumstances; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
